digital scrapbook

Posted in day to day, lookbook, musings by tisserendipity on January 5, 2009

Well it’s back home and back to school for me. Seattle seems like a long time ago. I started missing it the moment I woke up in the middle of the night on Saturday to get a glass of water from downstairs. No longer did I have to endure the chills from cold midnight air.

With the ease of storing thousands of digital images in one’s computer, it seems that scrapbooking is a rare art that only those with time (and money) have the luxury to enjoy. I love going into art and craft stores and admiring the plethora of scrapbooking materials on display. Beautifully textured and colored paper is a weakness of mine, but most of them are so expensive I often leave wistfully and push aside thoughts of creating a scrapbook for the future. While I enjoy the convenience of storing, editing and saving hundreds of photos at a go, it seems like I forget about them all the more quickly as opposed to physically having them in an album to flip through and admire. I’m pretty determined to not succumb to any form of digital scrapbooking for this Seattle trip though, because it was a vacation filled with too many wonderful moments to go unappreciated and forgotten. Silly antics from my little cousins, the delicious aroma of decadent sugary cookies baking in the oven, wide expanses of snow and slush, skies that darkened at 5 in the evening, Christmas music to warm the heart all day…

One of my favorite buys from this trip would have to be this blue woollen cape from F21 that kept me warm even in bed at night.

I miss the cold, the view, the warm fuzzies from spending time with wonderful people i love.

to Fruchtzwerg: That sounds really sweet! What’s xmas or any other holiday without yummy food…

to ambroisine: haha it’s actually corn flakes in melted marshmallow shaped to look like xmas wreaths! =) I didn’t actually make them. We went to my aunt’s friend’s house and she’d made them with her son. The green food coloring’s rather ingenious eh? Though a little toxic looking X)

    That skirt looks really comfy!

I don’t know what my favorite holiday moment was… My holiday was kind of wierd, my first Christmas spent without my family. Growing up is crazy!

You wear that cape so well. :)

I used to scrapbook back in high school, but I find that the biggest luxury involved in scrapbooking isn’t buying fancy papers, it’s time. It takes a lot of time to arrange one-of-a-kind mementoes, write captions, and decorate a single page.

That cape is quite a find – and looks just perfect with those little scrunched booties.

you are so right, it is often so easy to be harsh on ourselves especially in hindsight, but tomorrow truly is a new day and a new opportunity for better things :)
