Sorry for the relative slowdown in posts over the week! School started on Monday and the lectures have been running full steam. I so envy students from other faculties who only start next week and even then their schedules are so relaxed with about a mere 10 hours of school the entire week. As usual I’m pretty much behind in my reading and work mainly because I’ve been going out almost every night of this week meeting up with friends who’ve returned from their studies overseas for the xmas break. How can I say no to meeting up with people who I won’t get to see for the next 6 months or so? I think I can afford to feel lost and stupid in class for this week. ;p

Wore this outfit below when I went out over the last weekend with some friends who I haven’t seen in ages. Already I miss those pre-school term lazy days when there was time to do outfit shots. I’m terrible but I definitely don’t dress up much on days when I know I probably won’t have the time to do some outfit shots. Some bloggers have a habit of changing clothes 2-3 times a day in order to showcase their enormous and enviable wardrobe but I need to ration out the nice stuff in my comparatively piteous wardrobe.

Thank god it’s friday. My favorite day of the week. On a side note, I attended a talk held at my school tonight by a women doctors’ association here and there were really interesting (and well-dressed) female doctors who talked about balancing their work-life with external commitments and interests. There was one who was extremely pretty and didn’t look a day above 20 though she already has 2 small kids and is a general physician cum part time jewelery maker. Another came waltzing in in a pretty pink Cheongsam (traditional Chinese wear) and apart from being a belly-dancer and tri-athelete, is also mother of 4 kids. It’s women like them who really inspire me. For the past couple of months I’d been feeling rather unmotivated about my studies for I felt stronger passions elsewhere. After today’s talk, I’m starting to feel a little more positive about balancing work with other interests in the future. It won’t be easy of course, but I’m sure there’s some middle ground I can find. I wish I knew for sure where my true passions lie.

I don’t suppose anyone feels the same way?

    wonderful outfit, you’re so pretty!!!
and i know what you mean, when you talk about these women… you often have to make decisions, but often there is also another way to manage things, i think :)

This outfit is just perfect. Love the splash of color in the necklace, the decidedly feminine wrap cardi, and the lace cutouts on that fab skirt. Those sound like some truly inspiring – and incredibly energetic – women you heard speak! Glad they provided some inspiration.

You look adorable! And that sounds like a really inspiring talk you went to…I love meeting new people who inspire you to up the ante in your own life. :)

I think it is all about finding the right balance that works for your own lifestyle. Sometimes motivation is really something to work on; making sure our priorities are where they need to be while striving to do what is best for ourselves. I’m glad you were so inspired, I love that feeling too!

I also love this look! The details are so feminine and pretty. Your t-strap shoes make me smile!!!

I definitely know what you mean about being worried about balancing work and passion. It’s been a struggle I’ve been trying to figure out for a while, but soon I will be out of school and in the so-called “real world” and will probably experience it first hand.

I also adore Fridays [but I have to go to school tomorrow - some extra classes because of my exams in May - and it sucks!]

love your outfit, so sweet & girly :)

Very cute outfit, I love your skirt. Since I don’t have real weekends, Friday is a usual working day for me like every day :/

Your feelings about dressing every day, balancing main work with passions( by the way,I’m too trying to find out what they are, except classical-passive: watching movie, listen to music and reading!) are very appropriate to me! This year, oops…in 2008 I felt like I’m lost in my everyday routine: studies, studies, once again studies and no mood for making new outfits( sets), no answer on “what I can do to make my life a little bit more interesting”(I hope this year is gonna be totally different!). But I think, maybe studies are harder to balance with other activities than work?…When we are studying we have to go to school-half of day, make homework=another half…But work is limited in time: you do not need to do any homework!!! (I hope I’m not mistaken…Soon I’ll see it)
Your outfit is charming, so romantic…
By the way, I tagged you as “Blog I love” ;) )

Love the outfit. I constantly think about how I am going to balance work, being a mom, and being a wife in the future. Maybe that’s why I became a family studies minor. Great post!

    Have a great weekend.

Thanks so much for your comments guys =) I feel really comforted knowing that some of you feel the same uncertainties about life too… I guess at the end of the day none of us are really alone in our feelings.

to hippiegirl: Aww thanks! x) Yes I do think there’s a way to manage things… we just have to find what works for ourselves I suppose…

to Sal: Thank you for your sweet comment. =)

to orphelie and lexie: Thank you!

to Lisa: Thanks! I’m really glad I attended that talk instead of going home to sleep. ;)

to Emily: Thank you for your words of wisdom. I completely agree with you about the prioritizing bit. I think I need to get that a little clear for myself…

to divinity avenue: I do wish you all the best once you start working in the ‘real world’! It’s quite an intimidating thought… so hopefully you’ll be mentally prepared and ready once the time comes.

to ambroisine: Hey girl I’ve seen some of the stuff in your wardrobe and they’re always so lovely! =) I love your outfit shots as well as when you juxtapose items in your closet with the natural surroundings.

Yes, I’m actually a first year medicine student now. Haha no I don’t live in HK (i wish!) I live in Singapore which is a couple of hours away by plane. Near enough I suppose but fashion wise HK is leagues ahead of S’pore. I don’t mind at all that you’re asking =) I love hearing from people.

to Gossip: Thanks! All the best with studying for your exam.

to Rachael: Thank you! I’m so glad you’ve gone back to updating your blog. =) I absolutely love reading it.

to Fruchtzwerg: Oh gosh friday’s a work day for you? >< You have my sympathy…

to Zuki: Thank you so much! Your blog is so great; I love reading it and I’m so honored for the tag. =) I promise to post about it really soon.
Yeah I wonder if it’ll be easier to explore other interests once we start working. I doubt it though unless we plan our time really well because everyone always talks about how much busier working life is. It’s probably better to figure things out now while we’re still schooling. All the best with school too!

to Sweety P: Wow, you’re a family studies major? That is so interesting! I think I’ll probably ask you more questions about that another time. Yeah thoughts about becoming a wife and mom in the future are just a little intimidating. Just a little. Haha ;)

to Laura: Aww thanks sweetie! =) Have a great weekend too!

to Lexie: Haha I see! Thanks for telling me =) Hope to try tying a scarf that way some day too.

to Cathy Voyage: Thank you! Actually it’s a really inexpensive skirt that I got in a small street shop in HK. I think it wasn’t more than $12 (S’pore dollars) which is pretty cheap over here. Only in HK sigh.
